Community Bridge, Lower Lake, Pittville Park, Cheltenham

The aims of the project are to :

• respond to extensive community consultation which identified reinstatment of a pedestrian bridge across the lower lake in Pittville Park as a high priority

• develop a sense of community ownership and pride in the new bridge

• design a bridge which complements the landscape of the lake and is in keeping with the historical significance of Pittville Park. (Grade 2 listed on English Heritage’s Register of Parks and Gardens)

• install a well constucted bridge with low maintenance requirement which will maintain its appearance for many years despite periodic gaffitti and vandalism attack

• promote “a stroll around the lake” as part of a healthy lifestyle
