Community Connections Farley

This project aims to further improve the community garden at St Johns with the help of volunteers from different specific groups including: local residents from a high deprivation ward in Luton, young people with mental health support needs in partnership with the CAMHS team, refugees and vulnerable immigrants in partnership with the British Red Cross and other community volunteers who would like to get involved in social action.

The groups will be working together to install new raised vegetable beds, undertake planting and orchard creation, create new pathways ensuring greater access to the wider garden space and install seating for rest, quiet enjoyment and contemplation for all who visit and undertake tasks within the garden. Some new areas for wildlife and improved biodiversity will also be created.

The volunteers through taking part will be able to learn new skills and meet new people thereby improving confidence and reducing social isolation.
