Community in Partnership Knowle West – Reclaim Space Project

Filwood Community Centre has been part of Knowle West since 1938. Over the years the building has been home to a school, council officers and other charitable organisations. 2018 is its 80th anniversary, representing a significant milestone in its history. While most of the site is fully occupied and used well, there is one corner of the building that cannot be currently used, as the previous longstanding tenants left it in poor repair last year.
The grant will be used to make some essential repairs to part of the roof and to repair water damage to the floor. It will also be used to replace lighting fittings and redecorate the space. The grant is needed for materials and labour costs.
We will then use the space for additional rooms available for rental, either on a sessional or long term basis depending on the need.
We are also seeking funding for the main entrance for paint and some replacement glass panels around the main entrance door.
