Community Oak Project, Pits Wood Trust, Colchester

This project will develop a Forest School activity site and resources for the local Primary school and other community groups. It also involves developing existing pathways, to improve accessibility for the elderly or those with pushchairs, wheelchairs, mobility scooters etc. In addition the project will provide an accessible picnic bench close to the Hall Road gate. This will be useful for a nearby care home whose residents will use it. The project will enable the oak tree planting scheme throughout Copford to progress, in association with the Parish Council and local community groups, and to remove a fallen historic oak which has fallen over the boundary. The wood from the oak tree will be utilised for Forest School seating and wood sculptures.
