Comparison of the Chemistry and Toxicity of Airborne Dust and Leachate generated by Municipal Landfills

This proposal targets the solid and liquid products of landfills, and using recognised techniques ascertain thei toxicity to humans. Dust samples are suspended in water, and processedexactly like the leachates, this is a recognised technique that has been applied to atmospheric PM10 pollution. We address questions such as the levels of dust generated by working municipal landfills, and the potential toxicity of that dust. We will address the issues of the generation, location and migration of leachate within landfills, the toxicity of that leachate and degree of dilution required to render it harmless to DNA
