Conduit Head Apiary, Shrewsbury - Nature reserve toilet and septic tank improvements (2) (008338)

The project is firstly to install a new septic tank at the site at Conduit Head Nobold Lane Shrewsbury Shropshire and secondly to build new WC facilities suitable for use by the public to include disabled access

Shropshire Beekeepers Association (SBKA) is located in Shrewsbury and originally was set up under the umbrella of the national British Beekeeping Association, as a branch association for Shropshire beekeepers. The association has traditionally run a local apiary and existed to promote beekeeping locally and help new members as well as running courses and classes in beekeeping

In recent years, the Association has broadened its role within the local community, with a mission to educate the public in the importance of the honeybee to the environment and introducing members of the public to the world of beekeeping

SBKA is a registered charity and has been an existence since 1874

The Association has roughly 350 members and moved to its current location in 2017

The aim is to improve disability access satisfy a growing interest in the site and reducing the sites environmental impact

The Wildlife Area and Visitor Centre that the Association has created in Shrewsbury is a community asset to be enjoyed and shared by everyone, not just members of the Association or fellow beekeepers.

To improve accessibility at the site, the Association is seeking funding to provide clean and appropriate WC facilities, suitable for use by members of the public needing disabled access. The association has already improved wheelchair access to most areas of the site where previously it was not possible
