Conservation of BAP Habitats and Species at Kemerton Lake Nature Reserve

Kemerton Lake Nature Reserve is leased by the Kemerton Conservation Trust. It is on the site of a restored Sand and Gravel Quarry where extraction finished some 10 years ago. It covers 20 hectares and comprises the following priority habitates identified in the Worcs. BAP, ponds and lakes, reedbeds, fen, lowland wet grassland, woodland, scrub and an area of arable farmland managed for rare arable wild flowers and nesting lapwing. It supports a number of BAP species and is regionally important for its dragonflies, mining bees, stoneworts and aragle plants. It is crossed by a public footpath and has two hides for bird-watchers.
The project is to finance a part time warden for the site to manage the habitats and support public access.
