Conservation of M Shed Cranes

The cranes are a prominent feature on the city’s Harbourside which is both a significant tourist destination and an increasingly busy residential zone. Maintaining a sound paint finish is important for both the conservation of the cranes as well as their appearance. The cranes have a special place within our collection, (they are part of the designated City of Bristol collection), and in the hearts of the people of Bristol. They are often open to members of the public to visit, used as part of our annual Docks Heritage Weekend celebrations and in other cultural and city festival events.
