Conservation of White – Clawed Crayfish in the South West

This project aims to safeguard populations of the critically endangered white clawed crayfish in southwest England. The white clawed crayfish is a UK BAP priority species and also can be considered to be a flagship species for rivers, a UK priority habitat.
The project will:
Identify threatened populations and priority sites for interventions to conserve the white clawed crayfish in southwest England.
Implement translocation and re- introduction initiatives in order to establish new populations both in and ex- situ, in order to safeguard the species from extinction in the region.
Identify target audiences and implement a media campaign to highlight the conservation issues and mitigation strategies to safeguard WCC
