Contact Theatre, Manchester – Staircase

Applicants are planning a £6.6m redevelopment of their venue to meet the needs of growing numbers of young artists, participants and audiences. The project will also crate flexible spaces for local community use, in response to local demand, and improve access. Full capital works will take place during 2018.

Current access to Space 2 isn’t inclusive; disabled visitors take a different route to able bodied audiences. This means audiences enter via two separate entrances depending on the access route they take, splitting up parties visiting together. Without new stairs this issue cannot be addressed.
