Crabtree Ponds visitor improvements

The aim of the project is to improve the experience of Crabtree Ponds nature reserve for visitors. The site is freely open at all times and is situated in one of Sheffield’s most populous and deprived neighbourhoods. Surrounded by streets and housing, it is a much-needed green space with a large area of standing water surrounded by trees.
Like most urban nature reserves, Crabtree Ponds suffers from flytipping and we would like to install some substantial fencing to the Eastern boundary where it is easy to dump rubbish over a low stone wall down into the reserve. We would also like to install a K-frame gate to prevent vehicle access, benches and interpretation boards for visitors, restore a pond dipping boardwalk and improve some steps into the reserve to improve visitor access.
