Cragg Quarry Heritage Trail

Cragg Quarry occupies a prominent moorland position alongside regionally significant routeways. A new mountain bike trail from Lee Quarry has made Cragg a popular destination. However no interpretation exists to informs visitors; how this quarry has worked, that “Haslingden Flag” has paved Britain (Trafalgar square is surfaced with Haslingden Flag) and how quarrying shaped the local landscape. Many interesting features have been destroyed not from malice but from ignorance. We propose a quarry trail to interpret the site and to involve local residents users in the research and delivery in order to gain new skills and training.
