Create800 Project, St James Church, Mangotsfield, Bristol

This is a project to re-order St James’ Church in Mangotsfield to enable it to meet the needs of its local community.St James is a medieval grade 2* listed village church serving an expanding suburban parish exceeding 20000 in an area at the forefront of technological development. It is a building desirous of preserving and enhancing, but unfit for purpose for a growing 21st Century all-age congregation or community use. Visitors expect certain standards of warmth, accessibility, and facilities including a toilet, which are currently unmet by St James. In addition, areas of the church are inaccessible to people with poor mobility, in wheelchairs or prams. This project seeks to re-order to church to enable it to serve its community, creating a building fit for 21st Century use. ECT is being approached for a grant to establish the kitchen area, fund the fitting out and decoration of the toilets and baby changing areas and towards the construction of the stone floor.
