Parr Sports & Community Centre, St Helens - Damp Repairs and Community Garden (008427)

The project will repair damp in the building and to create a community allotment, that will be a community garden with food growing.

Damp in the walls currently affects the comfort, air quality, and use of some rooms within the centre. Repairing this will create a healthier, safer environment for users, protect the building for the future, and reduce energy loss.

Alongside these repairs, the project aims to develop an accessible community allotment and garden. This space will be open to everyone and encourage community action by bringing people together to grow flowers, fruit, and vegetables. Local schools will be invited to use the garden for learning activities, while older residents will be encouraged to take part to stay active, share skills, and reduce isolation. This will be open for all to use and will not require a membership.

Produce grown in the garden will be shared with the local community or used in the centre’s café at a reduced cost.

To repair damp within Parr Sports Community Centre and create a safe, healthy, and comfortable environment for all users. To protect and extend the life of the building while reducing energy loss and long-term carbon impact.
