Creation of a Fairy Wood, Willsbridge Mill Community Refresh (WMCR), Bristol

This is a project to turn an area of unused scrubland on the site into a fairy wood which will mainly cater for young children who might find longer walks in the surrounding nature reserve too taxing. A fairy wood is considered a light-hearted way to introduce pre-school children to conservation and a love of nature, building on fairy stories they will have read and heard. For older primary school-age children worksheets would be produced to introduce the names of trees, flowers, herbs, berries, insects and birds and they would use these to identify specimens in the wood.
