Projects / Creation of RSPB Lydden Valley wetland nature reserve.

Creation of RSPB Lydden Valley wetland nature reserve.

The RSPB aims to create a wetland nature reserve in the Lydden Valley in East Kent, by the acquisition of arable land and restoration to a range of habitats, primarily coastal floodplain marshes which is a UK BAP, and are important in supporting biodiversity. An opportunity has arisen to purchase 207.6ha of land, the second phase in the creation of the 500ha nature reserve. The first phase was the purchase of 22ha of adjoining arable land, an acquisition completed in September 2007. We are seeking funding to partially finance the land acquisition and help pay for biodiversity work over the 229.6ha BAP target. Track work to enforce the passageway to allow the biodiversity works to take place by providing access for vehicles.
