Cricket Nets Upgrade, Colchester and East Essex Cricket Club

This is a project to pull down four existing nets which have reached end of life and replace with three new cricket nets.

The Colchester and East Essex Cricket Club is a community cricket club with charitable status. It is situated in the lower part of Castle Park and provides services to the community and schools, for all ages from 4+ and has built a strong local network. The clubs cricket nets are in a poor state and need refurbishment. This will require the four existing nets to be removed and upgraded with the construction of three high quality nets that are safe and sustainable, fit for purpose for practice and training for members, visiting teams, schools and local communities.

Replacing the cricket nets at the club will enrich the community offering facilities for all ages and skill levels. Having a good quality, safe nets promote physical activity, talent development and social cohesion. The club is a hub for social interaction and host events that strengthen community bonds. The nets will encourage participation and will foster friendships and a sense of belonging for the community. The project will not only improve Colchester’s sporting infrastructure but will contribute to the overall wellbeing and vibrancy of the area, the club wants cricket to be a ‘Sport for All’.
