Crossens Inner Marsh: making natural connections

To deliver better quality UK BAP habitat (coastal grazing marsh) and benefit UK/North Merseyside BAP species (lapwing, black-tailed godwit curlew, brown hare, water vole), with benefits for additional species (redshank, avocet, wigeon, teal, golden plover, pink-footed goose, shoveler, oystercatcher). This will be achieved through purchasing Crossens Inner Marsh on the Ribble Estuary near Southport and restoring the habitat by improving food supply, feeding areas, nest sites by installing water control infrastructure (sluices, culverts, & weir) and ditch clearance/excavation; less intensive grazing regime; and predator exclusion barrier installation.
