Croston Weir Fish-pass (Easement)

As one important element of FrY’s broadly based programme of habitat improvement, commencing in 2001, three of the four fish-passes required on the Yarrow have already been constructed, at Birkacre, Pincock and Duxbury. There is now just one major obstacle remaining to be tackled, the Croston Weir Fish-pass. Although not initially perceived to be the most formidable obstacle of the four, permitting as it did fish passage in flood conditions, nevertheless Croston Weir does prevent the passage of fish in the majority of flow conditions – a growing problem with the increasing tendency to dryer summer/autumn conditions
