CSNP – Increasing Biodiversity

Camley Street Natural Park (CSNP) is a unique 0.8-hectare nature reserve right in the heart of King’s Cross. The reserve consists of a diverse mosaic of wetland, woodland, meadow & invertebrate zones. It is a crucial stepping stone in the green & blue corridor network, enabling species to forage, breed, roost & disperse across London. This reserve is home to Camden BAP & London BAP species.

Development in the area has caused our visitor numbers to steadily increase. We are redeveloping the site to handle these increasing numbers, through a programme of re-landscaping & habitat improvements, which will be completed by contractors & a dedicated group of volunteers to protect the ecologically sensitive parts of the site & enhance its overall biodiversity. Key to achieving this is to create a new grassland & hedgerow area which will increase the biodiversity of the north area of the reserve, & access improvements elsewhere which will protect the southern section from high footfall.
