Cumbria Grey Seal Survey Project

This project aims to employ both national and local Grey Seal Survey experts to provide training, taster days and mentoring support to a network of volunteers undertaking an accurate and robust survey of Grey Seals in Cumbria. The survey will provide information about the grey seals along the Cumbrian coast, where they haul out, what their habits are, where they breed and movements. During this project, we will train volunteers in specific photo identification survey techniques, and liaise with other organisations in Ireland, the Isle of Man, north Wales and southern Scotland to try to understand seals movement patterns.
