Dales Woodland Restoration II

This application will fund the creation of at least 16 hectares (approx 42 acres) of new native upland ash, oak and wet woodland across the Yorkshire Dales and Nidderdale. Signed agreements with landowners are required to ensure each woodland is managed for 10 years following planting after which time they should be sufficiently well established to support themselves. Beyond this period protection continues through statutory legislation, such as tree preservation orders and felling licences, enforceable by the Forestry Commission. The SITA Trust funding will support the purchase of trees, guards and stakes, ground preparation, stock fencing, 1st year weeding costs, labour costs, interpretation panels and on-site project officer time.
