Dearne Valley, Barnsley – wet woodland restoration

Wet woodlands, found along river valleys and made up of willow, alder and birch support a high diversity of invertebrates and other species such as otter. Dearne Valley wet woodlands are also home to a nationally significant breeding population of willow tit and sit alongside the densely populated city of Barnsley and it’s satellite settlements. This project will work on seven
sites, plus the trans-pennine trail, within the Dearne Valley Living Landscape to improve the quality of wet woodlands for both the wildlife and communites who use them.
