Desilting and Island Enhancements to Seven Islands Pond and Environs

Seven Islands Ponds is a former gravel pit that was dug circa 1900. The pond now supports a range of flora and fauna including a large breeding population of frogs and toads. The pond is part of a site of Metropolitan Importance for Nature Conservation. Over the years the pond has filled with silt to the detriment of local wildlife.
The aim of the project is to deslit the pond, remove excessive emergent plant growth and reduce the shrub cover on the islands. This action will enhance the habitat and its biodiversity value.
