Development of Tewkesbury Nature Reserve

The Project aims to complete access points at Jubilee Way, Stonehills and at least three others. New fencing is required to make the field's stock prove to enable the reinstatement of grazing. It is intended to create a reed bed in the southern area of the site. Identified areas of grassland on the site will be restored as necessary. A series of scrapes will be created to make the site more attractive to waders and other wild fowl. Existing footpaths will be maintained and inspected regularly. An additional raised footpath will facilitate and improve pedestrian access along the perimeter of Jubilee Way and link Wheatpieces with the Stonehills estate. It will necessitate the placement of a bridge over the river Swilgate. The Environment Agency will create four meanders involving the river Swilgate. The intention is to improve the present biodiversity, improve flood alleviation and enhance the attractiveness of the area for users and visitors.
