Digswell Playing Fields Rejuvenation – Children’s Play Area Project

This application seeks funding to support improvements to The Children’s Play Area.
Unsafe equipment has had to be removed and it has not been possible to replace it with new. The remaining equipment is outdated and unattractive This has led to a decline in use and attracted some inappropriate use by anti social elements. However, resulting from the emerging partnership between the DRA and WHBC new fencing has been erected to make the area more secure for children and improvements have begun to improve seating and surfaces.
The introduction of 2 new pieces of equipment within the now secure Play Area and for improved safe footpath access to it. A survey of parents/children at the nearby school (150 metres) showed overwhelming support for improving the play area. It is anticipated that there would be a significant increase in use particularly as an ‘after school’ meeting point. This in turn would attract greater use of the Sports Field for informal games and increase awareness of the potential Nature Area
