Doffcocker Restoration (in-flow scheme)

The project aims to restore an area of reed- bed which has previously failed due to excessive grazing by Canada Geese and fluctuations in water levels, leaving the area too dry for the colonisation of the reed. The project will create a water tight bund with dams to control water levels during excessively wet or dry periods and provide ideal habitat conditions for species including Bittern, Snipe, Water Rail, Warblers and other associated species such as Water Vole and Odonata. The project will involve members of the local community to give the project sustainability.
