Dolforwyn Woods Appeal

Since 2009, Montgomeryshire Wildlife Trust has been managing a 28ha species-rich ancient woodland, Dolforwyn Woods, as a Nature Reserve. The Woodland is owned privately and its owners now need to sell the woodland this year. Given our longstanding relationship with the site and its owners, they have given the Trust first refusal. If we are unable to raise funds to buy Dolforwyn Woods, it will be sold on the open market. This is likely to mean the felling of native trees and the creation of a pheasant shoot resulting in the destruction of its value to local people and to wildlife. If we are able to secure the funds to purchase Dolforwyn Woods we will be able to continue to enhance the biodiversity on site whilst keeping it open and accessible for local people.
