Doorstepping, Particiapation Monitoring and Promotional work to Increase Recycling in York

The project intends to monitor & evaluate householders waste & recycling habits wilst also raising awareness through promotional campaigns. The most effective way to collate this information is through face to face surveys & questionnaires known as doorstepping and participation monitoring.

In the area 84% of households are on fortnightly box/bag scheme which collects glass, cans and paper (with approx 4,000 just on a bag). In October, about 60,000 will change to an alternate weekly collection and be introduced to a green waste collection scheme.

This project will also include carrying out surveys at local household waste recycling centres and will be accompanied by some promotional awareness campaigns including leaflets and posters
