Down Hatherley Village Hall Energy Conservation works

This 1930’s building has no insulation in the roof and walls. The poor efficiency and low comfort provided to users will be addressed by proper insulation of the walls and roof. At the same time replacement of the roof will address health and safety concerns by safe removal of the asbestos roof tiles.
The Hall which serves as the only community centre in the village is used by all age groups for recreational and leisure activities. It is open to all and it is an important resource particularly for senior citizens. The original floor while basically sound is becoming hazardous in places and requires localised making good, sanding and resealing.
The Hall is currently lit by elderly fluorescent units. These will need to be removed during the roof replacement and the opportunity will be taken to replace with low energy lighting and fit fire retardant and thermally efficient curtains.
