Drainage of Recreation Playing Fields

Provision of a new drainage system on the Lydney Recreation Playing Fields on which football, rugby and cricket are played to national league status. The safety of players and public are jeopardised by the poor ground conditions and games have been cancelled or postponed by referees and umpires for safety reasons. The playing fields have been flooded three times in the last two years to a depth of upto three feet. The most recent flood in August this year has not cleared a month later and it has become obvious that the original drainage system installed in 1949 is working very slowly and inefficiently because of its age and design.
Recent visit by a drainage expert is recomending redesigning the drainage layout with a new pumping unit to serve half the ground and the existing pump to serve the other half.
