Dry Rot Eradication and Fabric Repairs

Funds are sought for the treatment of dry rot, investigation and repairs of internal and external fabric of the south and north slopes of the Nave/West Gable abutment to prevent water ingress. All work will be overseen by a qualified architect with a special interest in historic buildings and conservation. Initially, internal and external scaffolding will be erected and protective coverings applied to the organ and flooring to prevent any damage whilst work is being undertaken. The main body of the work will involve investigation of the external damage and subsequent repairs required. Inside: fruiting bodies will be removed and floor coverings and floorboards stripped back to ascertain the extent of dry rot and treat this. Plaster will be stripped off relevant ceilings and walls and all affected timber replaced. Walls and ceilings will be re-plastered and redecorated and returned to a functional and acceptable standard.
