East Keswick’s Elliker Fields Community Land Purchase Project

East Keswick Wildlife Trust plan to purchase 2 adjacent plots of land to create a 5 acre community nature reserve. The new area will extend and join together areas already managed by the Trust, creating a larger reserve. The project is divided into 2 phases. Phase 1 is the purchase of plot1 – Magnesian Limestone grassland. Phase 2 is the purcahse of plot 2 – Deciduous woodland and marsh. This project is specifically for phase 2. The project will protect the environment, prevent the site being used for development and safeguard the valuable declining habitats. Its central location in the village allows management to involve the local community and encourage conservation and education.
