East Lothian Yacht Club – Facilities Upgrade Project

ELYC received funding in 2006 from Forward Scotland towards the purchase of nine dinghies for sail training. After three seasons use, some of these dinghies were renewed from Club funds in 2009. In addition to these dinghies, the Club owns 12 Topper dinghies, none of which were purchased with grant assistance. These are the basic training dinghies on which youngsters of 11 plus first learn to sail. As such they are essential to our training courses, and especially to the Summer School programme. These dinghies are very sturdy, and, with good maintenance, can have a long life. However, all the Club’s Toppers are now 10 to 15 years old, and are nearing the end of their useful lives. We have, therefore, applied to Forward Scotland for funds to replace these dinghies.
