East Midlands Conservation Programme – Chellaston Brickworks LNR

BCTV East Midlands intends to run a practical conservation programme at important wildlife sites acrpss Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire. The work at Chellaston Brickworks LNR will take place over 2 days, undertaken by BTCV volunteers who will contribute and estimated 16 workdays.
Chellaston is renowned for its grasslands an associated ant hill and butterfly communities. This project will involve cutting of the grasslands andf removal of arisings by hand (the site’s sensitive nature makes the use of machinery impractical ) and scrub control by removing saplings.
