Edward Street Play Park, Sheffield – Play Area Improvements (50130/D)

The project aim is to replace the present activity area for purpose. It is currently a featureless area of tarmac which has been patched in the past where equipment has been removed unsafe and, as the site slopes, it is not particularly suitable for ball games. We would like to lay a new level surface together with multi-purpose blocks, ledges and ramps around the edge which can be used with bikes, scooters and skateboards, as well as for sitting on. Incorporating a high retaining fence on the downhill side will make it a better space for kicking a ball around and the inclusion of a basketball hoop will add another possible use. We would like to landscape this area and replant it in a series of waves of longer and shorter vegetation, providing both places for people to relax or enjoy a picnic and spaces to attract wildlife.

The Trust grant will contribute towards the play area improvements.
