Enhancing Access at Balgavies Loch Wildlife Reserve

Balgavies Loch Wildlife Reserve has a wide range of habitats within its boundaries. It comprises a loch surrounded by reedbed, woodland and grassland and supports a great diversity of wildlife from water beetles to the huge skeins of wild geese that fly in to roost during the winter. A circular route round the loch at Balgavies Wildlife Reserve, along with a new access track and car park, was constructed in 2006/7 to enhance the experience of visitors to the site. This footpath, together with the track and car park, is now in need of upgrading to ensure visitor safety and enjoyment. We would also like to take this opportunity to improve the access by replacing stiles with a variety of gates. This would make this section of the footpath more accessible to a wider audience.
