Enhancing Great Water-parsnip (Sium Latifolium) in the Fens

The project will carryout a survey of the ‘Fens’ to determine the extent of the Great Water parsnip, a UK BAP priority species, and deliver a small amount of practical management work to protect existing populations and encourage further growth in target areas throughout the Fens, including bank re-profiling, vegetation control and water control. The project will cover the drainage ditches of the ‘Fens,’ which includes parts of southeast Lincolnshire, north Cambridgeshire and west Norfolk. The work will include a large scale survey of the ditch system, led by the Project Manager, utilising local volunteers, focusing on key areas for the species. 700km of ditch will be surveyed
