Enhancing habitat and understanding of breeding Arctic and Common Tern at Belfast Harbour Reserve

Implementation of an integrated programme to deliver habitat enhancements and a greater understanding of breeding Common and Arctic Terns at Belfast Harbour. The Terns have adapted from nesting on natural shingle to breeding on specifically provided rafts on ‘Tern’s Island’. One of the islands at the reserve is in need of significant repair to be in an appropriate condition to facilitate breeding season next year. This will involve extensive work using a contractor to carry the work out. In order to raise awareness, a leaflet will be produced and a short research project will be conducted into breeding habits at the conclusion of the practical works (for ten weeks)
