Enhancing the Marsh Land at Dorman’s Pool SPA

Dorman’s Pool is 35ha and is of international importance to migrant wildfowl, contributing to the overall winter assemblage of a wider European Special Protection Area. It is also a UK SSSI for a number of important breeding waterbirds. RSPB took ownership of this land in September 2012 and is committed to maintaining its favourable condition. In order to achieve this we need to introduce livestock grazing which will ensure that scrub does not develop, that the wet grassland areas are maintained in good condition and that a `blue zone` is established on the south west fringe of the pool. We will install cattle grazing areas with designated footpaths to keep visitors safe and separate from the cattle.
