NWT Thorpe Marshes is Norfolk Wildlife Trust's only urban nature reserve. NWT has established a 5 year management plan and this project aims to restore the grazing marshes and associated network of ditches.It will deliver:- Major habitat restoration and creation through:- • Ditch restoration and improve water circulation. • Scrub clearance around St Andrew’s broad • Introduction of cattle grazing to previously ungrazed areas. • A greater area of shingle for breeding LRP. • Creation of a wider reed-dominated margin on the site's Broad • Scrape creation for breeding waders Long term sustainability of site management through:- • Improvement of the stock fencing • Widening of bridges and additional culverts Targeted habitat action informed by monitoring surveys on:- • Quality water, hydrological function, freshwater invertebrates, water voles, bats, ditch vegetation. Improved visitor access and experience.
