Envision Community Heritage Project – Drumnaph Ancient Woodland

This project is researching and interpreting the story of human interaction with the natural environment since humans arrived in Ireland and demonstrates how today’s landscape is a product of human interaction with the natural environment over several millennia. Envision is about inspiring individuals and organisations to play an role in creating a vision for tomorrow’s landscape, empowering people to bring about change.
The project will use the palaeo-ecological recordto show the changing environment over time, recreate past landscapes using 3D computer software and create a picture of what we would like tomorrow’s landscapes to look like.
Volunteers are key to our success. We have planned training and direct actions including hedge laying, rebuilding of stone walls, coppicing, removal of birch scrub encroaching into raised bog. This particular application relates to the hedge laying, stone wall building and coppicing all within the vicinity of Drumnaph Ancient Woodland.
