Equiping and furniture for the main hall of the new West Faversham Community Centre

The area where West Faversham Community Association is based is an isolated pocket of deprivation with much social housing, and is statistically one of the worst-off areas in Kent. The relative affluence overall of the ME13 postcode masks these facts. There are a large number of young people with low aspirations and low educational achievement. There is also a considerable problem with anti-social behaviour. We plan to tackle all these issues, and many more, and make a dramatic difference for people of all ages in West Faversham.

The association is building a centre that will be a “Community Anchor” in line with the vision set out by the Community Alliance in “Anchors of Tomorrow”, in which every area has a local facility to meet the holistic needs of the community. This is particularly vital in deprived areas and has a most beneficial impact. The association will be following the example of many successful similar organisations.
