Erlestoke Wildlife Conservation Area Scheme

To turn readily available land into a Wildlife Conservation Area based in a valley adjacent to H M Prison Erlestoke in Wiltshire. The land already has 3 badger sets, a mating pair of sparrow hawks, fallow deer and a large number of wild flowers and birds, together with wild native flora and fauna. Disabled friendly walkways and hides for bird watching will be created, and the Princes Trust are looking at donating a double decker bus to be used as a classroom on the site. The area will benefit local schools from an educational point of view. Visitors to Erlestoke could visit the valley with their children. The idea behind the scheme is that inmates, under supervision of prison officers can gain experience and learn skills that will enable them to set up their own business upon release
