Explore Aberdeen: River Dee Path Improvements

One of the great attractions of Aberdeen is the two rivers that flow into the sea at Aberdeen. Aberdeen City Council is developing its Core Path Network. (Identifying access routes that are important for visitors and the local community). This path is one of the key routes identified. This project involves improvements to the popular path along the River Dee between Maryculter Bridge and Garthdee (approximately 9 kilometres). The project will promote circular routes via links across farmland to the popular and heavily used Deeside Line.
The project has a number of elements: path drainage and surfacing; fencing off areas to exclude stock from the paths; tree planting; improved signage and the provision of six interpretative boards. Over one kilometre section fencing will be installed so that recreation users and farm stock will be separated and tree planting will be carried out on the river bank. It will impove access to one of the most attractive areas of the city.
