Extension of brown’s Hill Quarry Nature Reserve

The project will acquire a valuable, wildlife rich area of land covering 13 acres. Part of the site comprises an important area of scare limestone grassland habitat supporting many beautiful plant species which in turn attract an abundance of butterflies. Acquiring the land will link two exixting Leicestershire and Rutland Wildlife Trust nature reserves and this will create a larger area with better conditions for the communities of threatened flowers, insects, birds and mammals to be self sustaining. The project wil also invole strategic new tree planting to link areas of existing woodland. In addition, the project will improve public access.
