Extension of Moor Copse Nature Reserve

The project will help acquire 29 hectares of woodland, meadow and arable land adjacent to BBOWT’s existing 28.5 hectare Moor Copse nature reserve, west of Reading. About 50% of the proposed acquisition is of SSSI status. The acquisition will safeguard priority BAP habitat of wet woodland (9 hectares) and neutral grassland (9 hectares ). In the longer term it will also create 10 hectares of new BAP habitat (wet woodlands or species rich neutral grassland depending on the results of initial surveys).
