Extension to Fremington Quay's Visitor Centre

Phase I was completed in 2001 and the regenerated Quay & new Visitor Centre has gone from strength to strength, achieving over 100,000 footfall to the Quay this year Phase II aims to deliver additional floor space & an extension to the current Visitor Centre to accommodate: (1) an exhibition (funded principally from the Heritage Lottery Fund) to 'explore, safeguard, reveal and interpret Fremington Quay's cultural and built heritage; (2) educational facilities; and (3) community events. During delivery of Phase I it was anticipated that an extension might be required so planning consent was obtained and the foundations for this were laid. Phase III aims to deliver internally: a) Moveable display tables packed full of content (with digital media touch screens) b) Suspended up-datable imagery and interpretation c) Large format imagery d) A historic interactive site map e) Projector providing moving images f) Community Group display area
