Facility Enhancement - Implementing a Ball Stop @ Kilrea Pearses GAA

The objectives of the project include: • Enhance Safety for all Users (within 6 months): The installation of the ball stop will prevent balls from entering hazardous areas near the river, reducing the risk of accidents, especially for younger players. • Improve Facility Quality (within 6 months): Upgrade the pitch by adding high-quality ball stop netting, enhancing the overall user experience for sports teams and community groups. This will improve the built environment within the community. • Increase Participation (within 12 months): Boost engagement across all age groups and community users by 10%, ensuring a safe, inclusive environment that encourages more participation in sports and activities. • Support Club Growth (ongoing): Provide the infrastructure needed to accommodate our growing membership and sustain long-term development for the club and its activities. • Promote Community Well-being (within 12 months): Foster greater use of the facility by local schools, disability groups, and social clubs, contributing to improved physical health, mental well-being, and social inclusion in the community. We aim to have at least 3 more local schools using the pitch for regular community activity. • Maintain Environmental Protection (ongoing): Ensure that the installation of the ball stop does not negatively impact the natural environment, while safeguarding nearby areas like the riverbank from disturbance. • Ensure Long-Term Sustainability (ongoing): Create a safer, more functional space that reduces the risk of costly repairs and ensures the facility remains a central hub for community engagement and events.
