Fair Community Housing Services, Bermodsey – Community Garden (005556)

The project will engage residents in undertaking creative environmental improvements to an underused urban area. This will be done through the creation of an insect friendly stumpery, woodland/fern garden and bug hotel, designed through workshops and constructed by volunteers.

The stumpery/woodland garden will animate a shaded area which has been identified as an area in need of environmental improvements. This new community garden will be built with the aim of supporting bio-diversity through the creation of a new habitat for insects, including the increasingly rare stag beetle. The projects development will engage the community through workshops about and to improve the urban environment and sustainability to re-invigorate the urban green space.
